So… 2021. It’s been a bit of a crazy year, right? Of course, being the sort of person I am, I decided to start my publishing journey right in the middle of one of the most chaotic, stressful years in living memory.
I decided back in the spring of this year that it was time. I’ve been wanting to publish for years, but never really thought I was ready. Maybe I still wasn’t! (That’s a whole other blog post.)
Two Between Worlds was written near the beginning of 2020, just before the madness started. I chose to publish it first because 1) it was short; and, 2) I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters and wanted to share them with the world. After deciding to go ahead with publication, I made a concerted effort to do everything that needed to be done. I made a list of things to do and checked each item off as I did it. Let’s just say that I’m glad all that initial work is done; I’ve probably signed up to more websites and subscriptions in the last year than I have in all the other years of my life combined.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve made a lot of mistakes… and it shows in my sales numbers. Because I know next to nothing about marketing, I’m missing a big piece of the success puzzle. But I’m willing to learn what needs to be done.
Going forward, I’m going to be getting a newsletter up and running so I can keep in touch with my lovely readers. I’m planning on releasing some more books soon, including another standalone YA fantasy early in 2022. I’ve also got a couple of NA duologies that I’d like to publish in the near future.
So stay tuned. Some cool things are coming in the next 12 months.
Happy New Year, everyone! May 2022 bring you lots of great books and lots of opportunities to read them.
